Our Story
Better Together is a nonprofit organization based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, started in 2025, that supports cancer survivors through healing community events. The organization organizes a diverse range of local art-themed, movement and nature-oriented activities, including flower arranging, painting, hiking, yoga, forest bathing and community engagement events to help survivors find connection, camaraderie, and fun. Life after a cancer diagnosis can be scary, challenging, and isolating. The aim of Better Together is to support cancer patients through positive, enriching community building events.
SaraMarian Lucking, Founder
SaraMarian was treated for Inflammatory Breast Cancer in 2022, and she saw how important it was to have a strong support network after a cancer diagnosis. She participated and volunteered at adult cancer survivor retreats and experienced the power of cancer survivor solidarity and embracing new experiences with new friends. She decided to create a cancer community that welcomes everyone regardless of diagnosis, gender, or age to foster healing and connection.
SaraMarian is also the creator of www.healththroughcancer.com, a wellness website sharing support resources, practical tips through therapy, and a curated list of inspiring reads.
